Frac Poitou-Charentes

Collection

The collection currently consists of 800 works by French as well as foreign artists, reflecting topical issues and the diversity of artistic challenges and practices, with a particular emphasis on the period from the 90s to cutting-edge artists.
Interaction takes place in a reflection about the status of the artwork, object and image, between historical works and contemporary icons: from Marcel Duchamp to Bruno Peinado, via Raymond Hains, Martin Kippenberger, Paul McCarthy, Claude Lévêque, Xavier Veilhan and Ugo Rondinone...
It is forward-thinking, reflecting the research and thinking that artists conduct about the world today and which are tied to its functioning (economic, social, political, historical...), its codes (languages, representations...) and its productions (concepts, objects and images). Particularly representative of international artistic creation over the last thirty years, it brings together coherent collections in domains as diverse as painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, photography, video and film.
Today the Frac builds its activities around two fields, in Angoulême and in Linazay, so as to successfully conduct its collection, circulation and mediation of contemporary art projects.

Frac Poitou-Charentes receives the support of the Ministry of Culture and Communication - DRAC Poitou-Charentes, the Poitou-Charentes Region and the city of Angoulême.
